Creature Feature podcast - New Episode Featuring Sniper the Hoiho Dog
Ahead of the hoiho/yellow-eyed penguin breeding season, we had some very special guests for the October episode of monthly radio spot, the Creature Feature, with our friends over at OAR-FM. Normally dogs and penguins don’t go together, but our mate Leith Thomson and his certified Conservation Dog, Sniper, are a different breed. Leith has trained Sniper to sniff out hoiho nests and individual penguins in the dense South Island bush, helping reduce human resources needed to identify nesting sites and reducing disturbance to these precious penguins.
