Milford the Kākāpō - badge

$25.00

Meet Milford, a charming kākāpō hatched in 2019’s massive breeding season, who landed in the Wildlife Hospital when the Kākāpō Recovery rangers noticed his left foot wasn’t quite right. Milford was lovingly bundled to our doorstep by Ranger Sarah, and shortly thereafter fitted with a blue moonboot to keep his foot safe. Being a flightless bird, Milford wasn’t flying to the moon anytime soon, and decided to use his boot to wave at the nurses instead. Such a friendly wee chap.

A veterinary pedicure was the solution, and Milford caught a lift back to Whenua Hou with a slightly shortened toe and a clean bill of health.

Milford is available in keychain and badge styles.

Keychains are 30mm x 40mm. Badges are 30mm in diameter.

Each item is laser cut and etched on highly renewable bamboo, then hand painted with NZ-made, plant-based Natural Paint Co colours, all right here in Ōtepoti Dunedin, the wildlife capital of New Zealand.

Next time you’re on Rakiura, shout a hello to Milford from across the water. He might just wave back.
